Last week, we were so excited to learn of the major Government announcement and their commitment to PE and School Sport funding for at least the next two academic years.

The full package announced included the continuation of the Primary PE and Sport Premium as well as a greater push for schools to deliver a minimum of 2 hours of curriculum Physical Education. With two more years of SGO funding and equal access to sport in school, there’s lots to be excited about!

The full details of the package announced by the government can be read here.

It is vital that schools use the PE and sport premium funding to make sustainable improvements in the following five key indicators:

So how can Complete PE help?

Our scheme of work, supporting resources and in-built training will support schools to ensure that all teachers feel confident to enjoy teaching Physical Education. This means that by implementing Complete PE, schools are making a big impact in Key Indicator 1.

Using Complete PE, all of our lessons and units promote highly active participation from all pupils, inspiring pupils to want to lead healthy active lives. Schools can monitor and record the activity levels of all pupils, enabling schools to see impact under Key Indicator 2.

Because Complete PE has success outcomes (physical, cognitive, social and emotional) that will challenge the personal development of every child, Complete PE is therefore supporting whole school improvement, helping every child to succeed. This ensures that schools make a significant and long-term impact under Key Indicator 3.

There is more content on Complete PE than a school could ever utilise. This enables schools to design a broad and balanced curriculum, ensuring that learning is well sequenced and pupils are given enough time to learn. This meets the objectives schools under Key Indicator 4.

All of our units of work conclude in a celebration of learning! With links to the Schools’ Games website imbedded into our units of work, Complete PE will support every school to increase their participation in competition, generating impact under Key Indicator 5.

The Government have today confirmed that the Primary PE and Sport Premium will continue for at least the next two academic years (2023-24 and 2024-25).

In addition, a further £22 million of funding for the nationwide network of 450 School Games Organisers will be made available too.

Both sets of funding will provide support for the next two academic years and will help schools to ensure PE and School Sport are inclusive, engaging and fun for all young people, allowing every child the opportunity to compete.

To celebrate World Book Day this year, we have collaborated with Enrich Education to bring to life the fictional sport of Quidditch, which is played in the fantasy book series Harry Potter.

All schools using Complete PE will now have access to our brand-new Quidditch units (Year 3 – 6) and all the supporting resources, including:

All schools can now start using these new units on Complete PE and we hope that you enjoy teaching them as much as we enjoyed creating them!

Team Complete PE landed in Kuala Lumpur after a 16-hour flight, which included a short stop off in Turkey, to be greeted by stifling heat and a tropical rainstorm – something that they are not accustomed to in England!

As the weather quickly improved, so did their trip across the world, as Complete PE was introduced for the first time to the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).

The FOBISIA conference was very well attended by PE leaders, representing schools from the vast geographical and cultural expanse of Asia, who enjoyed an array of varied and key workshops, to enhance their PE teaching, leadership and work towards diversity and inclusion.

The conference included lots of inspirational key speakers including, Manisha Tailor (MBE), Neil Rollins, Will Swaithes, Tracey Neville and of course our very own, Catherine Fitzpatrick!

The feedback received from Catherine’s workshops has been extremely positive, with lots of schools opting to trial Complete PE to see how the resource would work in their school setting. So far five FOBISIA member schools have chosen to join the Complete PE family and we hope that this number continues to grow.

Despite the jet lag, (the first of many we hope) our excursion overseas was an overwhelming success, particularly for the new friends and professional colleagues we made and connected with.

We must say a big ‘thank you’ to the Alice Smith School, for helping to organise and host the event. We look forward to continuing our work with FOBISIA and the many schools who they work with.

We are excited to share with you that we have added Swim England’s School Swimming and Water Safety resources onto Complete PE.

Schools using Complete PE can now have convenient access to Swim England’s School Swimming and Water Safety Charter resources via our platform.

By adding these fantastic resources onto our platform, we will ensure that all teachers can access the necessary support and resources to feel confident to enjoy teaching and supporting School Swimming and Water Safety lessons.

The Swim England School Swimming and Water Safety Charter resources are available for free to all schools who have paid their annual membership or who have subscribed to an annual pass.

As a valued change-maker partner of the Youth Sport Trust, we have secured two FREE tickets to give away to the conference this year, taking place on Thursday 2nd March at the Telford International Centre.

Please make sure that you read the full terms and conditions.

The window for entries runs until midnight on Wednesday 18th January and winners will be announced on Monday 23rd January 2023.

As the international interest in Complete P.E. continues to grow in schools around the globe, Catherine Fitzpatrick has been invited to deliver a series of workshops at the FOBISIA PE and Sport Conference, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January.

Catherine is excited to be joining some of the world’s leading Physical Education Specialists, Teachers and Academics, at the 3-day event at the Alice Smith Schools.

Speaking ahead of the conference Catherine said: “I am both honoured and excited to be invited to deliver at the 2023 FOBISIA conference. It will not only offer a great opportunity to introduce Complete PE to the amazing PE teachers in the Far East, but also to learn from the hugely talented group of co-presenters and speakers”.

Catherine is scheduled to deliver the following workshops at the conference:

• What makes High Quality Primary PE?
• All about OAA: A practical workshop exploring OAA in primary schools
• Celebrating and Assessing the Whole Child

We are so excited to announce that we are now a FOBISIA affiliate member.

They are a diverse and inclusive community offering peer-to-peer support and extensive networking and collaboration opportunities to their members. FOBISIA’s membership takes in 79 Member Schools across 18 countries and regions in Asia.

As a new affiliate member, we are incredibly proud to be able to share all of the resources and training we offer at Complete PE to all FOBISIA’s member schools this coming academic year.

Since implementing Complete PE, 89% of schools say that there has been a positive impact on Physical Education across their school.

Our aim is to ensure that every primary school has the necessary resources and support needed to implement a High Quality Physical Education curriculum.

Last term we asked our member schools to complete a short survey to provide us with their feedback so that we can continue to develop and improve Complete PE.

We were delighted to learn that since implementing Complete PE, 94% of schools say that the confidence of all staff has increased when teaching Physical Education.

Here is some other key parts of their feedback:

82% of teachers watch and utilise the videos contained within the Success Criteria of Complete PE for every lesson.

Over half of our schools continue to utilise our curriculum builder to design and create their Physical Education curriculum.

Nearly two thirds of our PE Leaders regularly use the resources contained within our ‘Subject Leaders’ Area to support their leadership of Physical Education.

65% of teachers use the Differentiated Learning Cards embedded into the planning every lesson.

53% of schools use our assessment tools to track and monitor the progress and attainment of all their pupils.

We have listened carefully to the feedback from our member schools and have made several changes to the functionalities and features within the platform to make the resource even easier for teachers to use.

To take a look at the changes we have made login to Complete PE.
